We’ve had a lot of great public figures speak at Iowa School events over the years.
It’s amazing how much you can learn from the words of successful people.
Mark Cuban? We’ve all heard of him before.
Even though he has the public persona of an overly aggressive a-hole, you gotta give credit where credit is due.
Mark’s a Billionaire (yes, with a capital B) and deserves every freaking penny he has ever made.
I don’t know about you, but I feel oddly pumped whenever he goes on one of those ‘here we go again’ rants on ABC’s Shark Tank. (Here comes Kevin’s next licensing deal!)
Which brings me to the point I’m trying to make in this post: when successful people talk, you pucker up.
Mark is incredibly successful. He makes most bank accounts look like chump change and I’m already doing pretty alright for myself.
He has decades worth of wisdom oozing out of every line he drops. That is why I’m taking notes from the Goliaths like him all the time.
My top 5? Elon Musk, Steve Blank, Marissa Mayer, Paul Graham and of course, Mark Cuban himself.
With that being said, here are 6 of my favorite Mark Cuban quotes and how they have applied to my online empire.
‘Treat your customers like they own you. Because they do.’
Could not agree more.
Customers are the lifeblood of every business. No customers equals to sales equals no profits equals one very frustrated and unhappy entrepreneur equals sleeping on the floor.
When I’m sponsoring new team members, I’m also giving them my 100% focus and attention and support. I don’t hide anything from them, I give them all of my best stuff and support.
And I proudly teach my team members to do the exact same.
Nothing irks me more than a team sponsor who pulls a Houdini once the commissions are cleared. It does nothing for the poor dude who decided to join in under you (poor fella, must be lost like Nemo) and absolutely destroys your reputation over the long run.
See, something really weird happens when you make a decision to keep it all about the customer – you get a ton of street cred. And street cred is crucial in a business that completely revolves around smart drugs and relationships. Street cred is what keeps your ship afloat on the internet sea.
A good relationship with your team members is worth a LOT.
Prospects get 24/7 access to me over Facebook and I do my best to help them out build their own business empires as much as I can.
(As long as you put in the work, of course)
Under-deliver and over-promise. That’s my goal, and it should be yours too if you’re looking to make a killing in business.
“Work like there is someone working 24 hours a day to take it away from you.”
When it boils down to working hard, hustling and grinding on the blog – I truly believe that there is no one out there who does more than me.
Hard work matters, everyone.
I pushed myself to become an amazing content writer because 2 years ago I was absolutely terrible at stringing words together.
When others were out in the Australian sun lazing around and sipping those Coronas, I was happily sitting here in my room, working hard and slaving away.
Now the results are starting to show for themselves. Google anything Empower Network related. Who do ya see? Wink.
Don’t go around expecting riches and money to fall out of the sky if you aren’t willing to put in the necessary work. It rarely, rarely ever works out that way.
If you don’t push for success, somebody else who is willing to get their hands dirty will overtake you, flip you up on that burger grill and make the money instead.
Sorry, broski. Nobody to blame but yourself.
“Doesn’t matter if the glass is half-empty or half-full. All that matters is that you are the one pouring the water.”
I love this one.
This is why I’m rocking my own blog, my own sales funnel, my own bonuses. I’m in the driver’s seat. I’m in control.
I have explained the beef I have with all of these team sales funnels and squeeze pages flying around the internet multiple times – it does not allow you to stand out and differentiate yourself.
Control is everything when you are running a volatile internet company.
When 10,000 people are doing the exact same thing, why should you go out there and try to be number 10,001? What gives?
Pour your prospects a brand new glass of water, dude. And top it up till that son of a bitch overflows.
‘It’s not in the dreaming, it’s in the doing.’
This is pretty much a follow on from quote number 2.
I cringe every time I hear somebody say ‘I just wanna be financially free and not work for the rest of my life’, but whenever I ask ‘so what have you done about it’, they shrivel up.
Like a prune under the Australian sun.
99% of the time, their answer revolves around one of the following lines, along with my own snarly commentary in bold:
- ‘Oh I just wish I had the time to work on my business! I have a lot to do right not *insert random mundane activity*’ (Wrong. You want something? You make time. End of story)
- ‘I just wish I had the skills to succeed!’ (Well, go learn those skills then. What are you waiting for? Jesus.)
- ‘I’m waiting for the right opportunity and the right business!’ (Uhh. What the does that even mean?)
Translation: they’ve done zip (absolutely nothing).
While having big dreams is great and all, what exactly have you done about it? Talk is dirt cheap, and actions speak way louder than words.
So get yo ass to work. Like right now. (But finish reading this post first?)
Stop dreaming. Start taking massive action and GSD. The right time to start a business?
It’s right now. Seriously. Like I have, and so many others who are killing it.
I don’t care what anyone says. Being rich is a good thing.
Tim Ferriss once said: ‘Being rich is more about having the right frame of mind, because when you start realizing and believing you deserve large amounts of money, you’ll actually start working towards that goal.’
(I’m pretty sure I butchered that quote, but you get the idea, right?)
I wasn’t born into the most affluent family imaginable. I was brought up with the mentality of ‘go get yourself a stable 9-5, pay the bills and have 12 kids’. It’s an Asian thing. I swear.
Anyone who was extremely rich and wealthy were like magical deities from a foreign planet to me growing up.
I had to undergo some massive mental pre-programming to truly accept the idea of being rich with a thick beard and wealthy lifestyle.
Money buys you more freedom, more choices and a much better lifestyle.
It won’t buy you happiness, and it certainly won’t solve everything. I’d give you that much.
But I’d much rather be worrying about my problems at the back of a limo instead of being so broke I can’t even pay attention.
Savvy? Got all of that?
Who knew. Mark Cuban trash talks a lot, but there’s a ton of truth bombs you can take away from him.
Your turn. I wanna hear from you next.

Mary Kay is one of the most trusted in the MLM industry. Their products have gotten global attention and are known for being some of the best cosmetic products around. The Mary Kay company has been in business since the 1960’s and has grown larger with each decade. Now, they are Iowa School’s most recent […]
Do Iowa schools have a problem?
Also known as skinny sipping, replacing meals with healthy shakes is a boon to help you achieve your nutrition requirement when you do not have enough time to shop or prepare for proper, balanced meals. Preparing and eating 5-6 small meals is not always practical or possible, especially if you have a certain requirement of complex carbs, protein, and fat content.
When going for meal replacement options, it does not mean you can replace all of your meals for the day with a meal replacement shake. The majority of the MRS and protein bar have high sugar content and is therefore not the most viable option. It is highly advisable that not more than 2 of your 5-6 meals of the day should be replaced with meal replacement shakes. Stick with real diets like paleo.
Meal Replacement Shakes (MRS) – What are they?
As the name suggests, meal replacements are nutritionally rich beverages that can be taken in place of a meal to save time and energy without compromising on health. People also follow this plan to keep their weight in check or to lose weight.
